Who we are

Vancouver Storm FC is built on more than four decades of commitment to the indoor arena game — a legacy shaped by our Founder and Executive Director, Peter Valdez.

Peter’s journey began in high school, training with the MISL (Major Indoor Soccer League) as part of the Los Angeles Lazers organization. There, he gained early exposure to the speed, precision, and intensity that define elite indoor soccer.

His competitive career took off with the Phoenix Hearts in the SISL (Southwest Independent Soccer League) where he earned Rookie of the Year honors and recorded an unforgettable playoff shutout, helping the team reach the championship match in its inaugural season. That moment cemented his reputation as a goalkeeper built for the arena.

For decades, Peter remained in the game, playing continuously and refusing to step away from the sport he loved. He finished his playing career with the WISL (Western Indoor Soccer League) Portland Blacktails, with final appearances in 2019 (age 51) and 2021 (Age 53).

Then, his role evolved — from player to builder.

He relocated the franchise north to Vancouver Washington, originally competing as Vancouver Lightning. After overcoming significant organizational challenges, the club transformed and relaunched with renewed clarity and strength as Vancouver Storm FC.

Today, we are proud to stand as the only semi-professional indoor soccer team in the Vancouver, WA–Portland, OR metro region, developing talent, delivering exciting arena-style competition, and carrying forward a legacy built on passion, resilience, and authenticity.

This is more than a team. It’s 40+ years of playing, learning, and never giving up.

Welcome to Vancouver Storm FC.
This is who we are.
